Show system files: System files are very important, well hidden in the Windows installation directory and are essential for starting, running and using Windows, but sometimes it is necessary to open these files and folders that Microsoft engineers in Redmond have hidden well deep system, due to system troubleshooting. Files are "protected" for security reasons.

Deleting or modifying these important system files can cause system crash, so you can delete or modify the file at your own risk.

Quick Tip: Deleting system files can cause an irreversible error, which can lead to reinstallation of Windows and even loss of important data.


Show files

If for some reason you need this operation, do the following:

Simultaneously press the Windows -Logo Windows -Logo + R keys on the keyboard to display the Run window and type the control.exe folders command.

The File Explorer window appears, where click on the View button in the top menu bar.

In the new window that appears, scroll down to "Hidden files and folders" (yellow file icon). Below this entry, select the radio button before the Show hidden files, folders and drives option. Do not close the File Explorer window yet.

Also in this window scroll down and clear (uncheck) the checkbox before the option Hide protected operating system files (Recommended) if it is not already deselected.

A small window appears and warns you that these are protected system files, and asks "Are you sure that you want to display these files?". Click Yes. The small window disappears.

Show system files

Click Apply and then OK. You can close all windows. Ready.

Hiding files again

Use the method described above to reopen the File Explorer window, and scroll down to "Hidden Files and Folders" (yellow file icon). Below this entry, select the radio button before the Don't show hidden files, folders or drives option. Do not close the File Explorer window yet.

Also scroll down in this window and select (check) the checkbox before the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option if it is not already selected.

Click Apply and then OK. You can close all windows. Ready.
